Just when you think it can't get any more bizzare...

Just watching the news on Channel 2 and they're reporting that Sloan residents will be facing a very large increase in property taxes because financial records were dumped into some water and tax records disappeared from the computers so now they don't have any way to determine the budget or what the financials look like....are you kidding me?

I would have hoped they had some sort of backup for the computer records and shouldn't those paper records be secured?

What the hell is going on in WNY? Is there some way to give all government offices an enema and get some competent people to run this area?

I'll be honest.. i bet the books are not all that accurate in any town in WNY.

If not, maybe these independent auditors (CPA firms) ought to be taken to task. How can any of these firms render an opinion if the "books are cooked" or are in that bad of shape.

Erie County IS NOT WNY!!! There are seven other counties in WNY besides Erie.

I read the story on the Channel 2 website (Sloan ) and it doesn't sound like innocent incompetence but more like deliberate malfeasance.

Good point! It's only a one square mile village...in the middle of Cheektowaga, correct? It should be assimilated into Cheektowaga.

The we can look towards Amherst and the Village of Williamsville, or Lancaster/Depew...and on, and on and on....

That's sad... you know there are a lot of older people who live in sloan and it doesn't mean they are trash. Sometimes people should think before making general statements like that.
