I think stevenco was referring to the significance of "420".

Having posted this insightful knowledge, many people established bloodshot eyes and a craving for weird foods.

Stevenco, this is the most insightful and provocative post you have ever created

OK, that's good but what have we done besides voice opinions?

Need to take action folks not sit behind computers and POST REPLIES.

Kick a politician, clean up a vacant lot, volunteer, support a local business, VOTE!

It's not about a bunch of people sitting behind a computer replying to posts, it is the conversations that keep going. If ten people read the message baords, or 200 it's the talk that lets people become aware of what's going on.

The candidates forum is off to a good start, it is bringing the candidates a little more to the people. I learned more from judy4mayor on the message boards than what the (media/print) news has brought to the public, so that's a good example.

What makes you think people are not doing this already? Well, with the exception of actually 'kicking' (assulting) a politician, we can use our words/conversations to kick-start a change.

I'd have to agree with Nightowl.

Because of Speakup, I know people who've attended meetings, donated funds, publicly questioned their elected representatives (and called them on non-answers) and researched the (still badly flawed) County budget.
Truth springs from argument among friends.

My apologies...I guess I was looking for really big gestures of defiance, political protests and the like.

Your right, people are more aware thanks to the forum and writing their representative certainly did have an impact.
