This is a very positive move, tying in with the inspiring grassroots initiatives of both Bflo ReUse & PUSH Bflo.

Energy efficiency has great potential in Bflo to create jobs while saving money for Bflo's poor, who often spend too much to heat uninsulated homes, send recyclables to the landfill, build new housing instead of rehabbing old, etc.

Hoyt conference to focus on economic growth in region


Assemblyman Sam Hoyt, D-Buffalo, is hosting a Green Jobs Conference on Nov. 22 aimed at generating initiatives to spur sustainable economic growth in the region.

The conference will run from 8 a. m. to noon at the Minnie Gillette Auditorium at the downtown campus of Erie Community College.

“This conference will be a unique dialogue between state officials, businesses, grass-roots organizations and community members to create a clear action plan for long-term success,” Hoyt said in a statement.

The conference will touch on 10 topics: community revitalization; manufacturing; public awareness and education; energy; existing opportunities and best practices; creating opportunities and industries; training programs; housing waste management and recycling; transportation; and public health and food.
