So where is the new Erie County CSEA contract?

Mr. Poloncarz worked with the union. He understood their issues. They helped him get elected. So, where is the White Collar Union contract?

Low level versus High level people and their health insurance . The contracts contain increases based on salary/wages e.g. 2% Then there are the summer hours and so many holidays- everyone on the same level there. Then there is the sharing of the cost of health insurance. This is normally a percentage against the actual cost of health insurance e.g. 15%. The problem has been that the $30-40,000 person is unjustly hurt with the raise as a percent and the health contribution which is a fixed amount e.g. 15% against the same number of $6,000 single or $12,000 married insurance cost. 2% of $70,000 is $1,400 and 2% of $35,000 is $700. You do the math and the vote not to settle came from the workers who need second job to get by.

But none of this is new. Poloncarz knew all of this - as Comptroller he must have understood the numbers.

The non-producers voted the contract down again.

But I thought Poloncarz was the champion of the working class county employees? What happened? There must be some way to blame the evil industrialist Monty Burns-Collins for all of this. Perhaps a "not-my-fault I inherited this from the former Exec" speech to let the little guys know that MP is still their man.

3 to 1 was the verdict; non-producers and great employees alike
some of the other unions signed up for theirs, but this was the biggest group

I kinda think our wonderful new county executive suddenly realized that if he hands out cushy contracts, he's gonna have to raise our already too high taxes, and there's no way he'd even get elected dog catcher if that happens. Funny how self interest takes precedence over friendships when slime bags are involved.
