If a person who was downsized through no fault of his own gets a $200 check, he's a bum, looking for a handout.
If multi-billion dollar corporations, which are already the most profitable in the history of the Earth, get's billions of taxpayer dollars, it's a necessary expenditure. Or a "new cost" if it's relinquished.
Love this rightie logic.
As for the oil companies passing the loss of revenue on to the consumer, that's capitalism at work. Market forces and so forth. The Right should be defending us paying more for gasoline. The point is that oil is not going to get cheaper. And eventually, it will run out. Why shouldn't we be developing alternative energy sources? What's wrong with doing it cheaper, safer and cleaner? Why wouldn't we want our country to be the leader in a fast-growing, global industry? What would be better than running our entire nation on sources of energy that will never run out and make us independent of the goings on in places where the flow of oil is paramount? What would be greater than to make the oil in the middle-east worthless?
