Obama asking to end tax subsidies for oil.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is calling anew on Congress to end tax subsidies for the oil and gas industry, saying the nation needs to develop alternative sources of energy in the face of rising gasoline prices.

Oil prices are nearing $4.20 a gallon and our wise leader wants to increase the prices of gas to the consumer by ending the oil subsides that big oil has. Will big oil pass these new costs (no subsides) on to the consumer? You bet they will. Our government will win in both ways if the oil subsidies are stopped. Higher gasoline costs means more federal taxes collected on gasoline sales and the additional revenues collected from more taxes in the oil companies by ending the oil subsidies. Obama is consistent in his policies of transferring the wealth from those who earn it to those that don't. My hope is the voters will remember what Obama stands for come election time for who he really is.

If a person who was downsized through no fault of his own gets a $200 check, he's a bum, looking for a handout.

If multi-billion dollar corporations, which are already the most profitable in the history of the Earth, get's billions of taxpayer dollars, it's a necessary expenditure. Or a "new cost" if it's relinquished.

    Love this rightie logic.

As for the oil companies passing the loss of revenue on to the consumer, that's capitalism at work. Market forces and so forth. The Right should be defending us paying more for gasoline. The point is that oil is not going to get cheaper. And eventually, it will run out. Why shouldn't we be developing alternative energy sources? What's wrong with doing it cheaper, safer and cleaner? Why wouldn't we want our country to be the leader in a fast-growing, global industry? What would be better than running our entire nation on sources of energy that will never run out and make us independent of the goings on in places where the flow of oil is paramount? What would be greater than to make the oil in the middle-east worthless?

Lets look at the Green Energy Car the Chevy Volt that Obama pushed on this country with a tax payer subsidies. This really solved the energy problem. Chevy has halted production of the Volt due to poor sales. How about Obama's great green energy plan Solyndra (it helps if you contribute to his cause) how much oil did this plane save. Finding a alternative energy source may come in time, but for now let use the oil, coal and natural gas we have in our country.

We are not running out of oil. Also the high cost of oil is Directly related to the fact that 80% of oil stock is being bought and sold by banks. Banks are the ones driving up the cost of oil. As far as running out? Eh, canada has a confirmed supply of LNG that will last atleast another 100 years between the us and canada... Oil? The US has just as much, if not more oil with in its own territory, than the entire middle east. However due to tree huggers, and those who hate america, like the extreme left, higher gas prices, a depression, tens of millions out of work, tens of millions living in poverty, is all excellent

You do know that those "tax breaks" are the same R&D tax breaks that every company get's, like Apple, Hollywood and even GE, right?

You do know that oil companies do more than just pump oil out of the ground right? Every heard of plastic?

Just a thought . If the Oil and gas companies are greedy what about thee many layers of government who add so much to the cost at the pump with out doing anything except watching the dollars build up in their accounts. If the fed wants to lower the cost they should make the first move and drop a few fees taxes or what ever they want to call the bill today

What we really need is $10/gal gas to help us have enough resolve to overcome our addiction to oil.
