How many times does this same situation play itself out in reverse, everyday in the US?

The shooter is black, the dead teen is white.

Not often actually. Statistically speaking black people kill black people the most and white people kill white people the most. And as far as interracial hate crimes white against black is more prevalent than black against white. But all violence is negative anyways.

It would be nice if the black community would come out and band together to protest every murder of black kids or committed by blacks in the city. How many murders in Buffalo this year involve black victims? Does grandstander Rev Al speak out about those? Oh, no cameras there then probably not. If the black community wants to get away from the stereotype of the suspicious looking black kid just because he has a hoodie on, then they have to get away from the "don't snitch" mentality and act like they have for the Trevon case when any young man is killed.

Buffalo has an anti violence march or rally almost every year to combat black on black crime.

They are different kids. But then I guess all blacks look the same to you, huh?

"THE" Travon or "A" Travon? Seems to be a lot more of them than one might suspect. Who is the source? Accepting that they are the same, so what? The second picture is nothing special, unlike the fake that was circulating in FB of a young man flipping off the cameras. Is the second Travon pic something more sinister, revealing of the young man who was killed?

Nope!

I'm getting kinda tired of reading about it. Both the right and the left are spinning this thing wildly for their own purposes. They had a rally in Niagara Falls today complete with Skittles and Ice Tea. Understanding that most of the crime in Niagara Falls, much of it involving guns and shooting, is black on black, who cares about some kid who gets killed 1000 miles away by a white wannabe cop? Where are the rallies for those victims? Notwithstanding that some of the "protesters" were folks with family names familiar to the NFPD. At least I recognized at least one of them.

The way I see the facts as reported so far, Zimmerman, who has no police powers, intercedes in a situation for which he has no business other than being a good witness. At some point his tactical situation changed by his own ineptness or fate and he resorted to deadly force. Being physically attacked while carrying a gun brings a lot of things into play, just ask a cop. If Zimmerman was a police officer and was investigating Travon and in the course of events is physically attacked and knocked to the ground, deadly force to stop the threat (remembering if the officer is incapacitated he could lost his gun and his life) may be entirely appropriate. But a police officer investigating a suspicious person has no obligation to retreat and is expected to push forward. Zimmerman is not.

But for timing, Zimmerman could have been shot by arriving officers. It is why even veteran police officers are cautioned as to proper tactical conduct when operating off duty.

I do have some unanswered questions though. Where did Travon live in relation to the place he was first seen? Where was his brother in relation to where he was first seen. Oh, and the biggie, if this is a gated community, who was at the gate?
