Sen. Ted Stevens found guilty in corruption case

Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens was convicted of seven corruption charges Monday in a trial that tainted the 40-year Senate career of Alaska's political patriarch. The verdict, coming barely a week before Election Day, added further uncertainty to a closely watched Senate race. Democrats hope to seize the once reliably Republican seat as part of their bid for a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

Well, let's see...what's different about the two situations?

    Oh yeah, a conviction.

I guess Bush won't be doing time either...

But heck, I guess a conviction doesn't even matter that much if you're close enough to Bush (see: Scooter Libby).

Sorry. If you didn't get it, that's three times as often, not 3 individual instances more.

Really...if you want to complain about a congress that "can't get anything done" then your finger needs to go straight to the Repubs this time around.

That Stevens actually did this makes me sad about our entire system. But the part that really pisses me off is how STUPID it is. If the guy has even an average income and net value of a Senator, he's a millionaire a few times over. So he has to take $250k in home improvements on the hush-hush? I think the guy should be fined about a mil for the actual infraction, without jail time. I think he should be thrown in the solitary for about a decade for the stupidity.

That the Republican side of the aisle set a Congressional record for filibusters is much more than "whatev's". That's what keeps nothing from getting done. Have you bothered to look at the hole this country is in lately?

    whatev's.

It is kind of funny how the R's used to cry all the time when they controlled the Congress that "the D's are going to filibuster", yet they turned out to be the all-time champs. Maybe they all just need to vote "whatev's".

    Justice is sure fast

It is amazing on how fast Justice works.

Senator Ted Stevens (R) Alaska was formally indited on 7-29-08. On 10-29 2008 he was found guilty.

Congressman William Jefferson (D) Florida was formally indited on 6-24-2007
Mr Jefferson Brother, Sister and Niece have also been indited. As of today Mr Jefferson corruption problems have not come to a conclusion.

Republican must have the only fast lane to the halls of Justice.

Again, I'm not a republican, but whatev's to you as well. My previous whatev's were to the poster and not the post. But hey, feel free to jump in my **** anytime.

    Versus having "killed" Ron Brown?
