Praise the Lord and pass the Ammunition

    Taxpayers of the world unite!
    We have found a leader.!
Like a pheonix rising from the ashes, our own county executive is stepping up once again.
True, he is a twenty plus years career ploitician.
True he was city comptroller for ten years while the city was heading towards insolvency, he cried out like a voice in the wilderness for the city's "fair share" of the county sales tax.
True he was elected county executive as a "reformist" who was going to do things "cheaper" ( then he went out and payed more for office furniture than any public official in the history of furniture buying), Smarter (He only paid his driver eighty one thousand a year and defended him as worth every penny)., and more efficent,(Aurora barns, going through five hundred million dollars in five years and having a deficit because he didn't see medicade coming).
But now, the genius behind the red and green budget has, after five years of testing the winds has found out which way they are blowing.
Yes, the pied piper of politics was quoted, on this vey morning, as saying "there is a tax payers revolt in WNY and I am going to lead it".
After weeks of floundering like a rudderless ship we have found a captain.
I must admit there was a little of the old Joel in his remarks, but he hid them well. He never mentioned raising taxes in the next year. Instead he spoke of "new revenue streams".
He also said his sincerity in his reformation would be judged by the voters in the next election. When questioned by reporters about his annoncement made in January that he would not run again, he clarified and said he would not run for County Executive again.
He never said he would not run for Gov., Lt. Gov, ,a new position such as Erie County Regional Metro Czar!!!!

He said a march was begining and he would lead it East. He actually used the word "CRUSADE" when he talked about fighting medicade.
Nothing rallies the masses like a good old fashioned crusade.
He knows all the buzz words, all the buttons to push.
Would you buy a used car from this man.
If there is ever a nuclear war all that will survive is cockroaches and Joel Giambra.
How anyone can fall for this is uncomprehensible. The people of WNY deserve better and will do fine with out him.
We need to elect a new legislative body, revisit the charter, Downsize county goverment to the purpose it served before the 1960's, and relegate that wind bag to obscurity.
    The sooner the better.
"If you want to know what God thinks of money just look at the people he gave it to."

By the way, what happened to biker? I miss the old coot.

If he repairs his image enough in the next three years, the candidate he backs in the next election might win and make him an $81,000 per year driver.

Yes, I completely agree. The county has evolved into an entity that primarity serves to redistribute wealth from the suburbs/rural areas to the city anyway. That way, we can get rid of county sales taxes entirely, along with the B&ECPL (library system), medicaid (which primarily services poor city residents), Social Services, and a bunch of other crap. If the city wants those programs, they can fund them itself or go begging to the state. The city can even have its own sales tax, from which they can keep 100% of. They can even raise it to 20% if they so choose.

Yes! you are on to something!!!!

Sounds eerily familiar to what Joel is doing right now, don't you think?...

No. Not at all. I think what he is doing is scaming you again.
It amazes me that you, who feel you are so tuned to what you perseve as my self serving motivations, fall for his parlor tricks like a dazed school girl following the latest teen idol.
Three months ago he came out and wanted an increase in the sales tax. He persued this agenda untill a week ago.
Now, in the name of reform he is going to lead you like moses thru the desert of medicade and to the land of milk and "Honey, no new taxes!"
Yeah he wants smaller goverment and reduced taxes this week. Because thats what you want to hear. No taxes, just new revenue streams.
He wants to keep everything status quo, Regionalism to him is the same clowns with a new circus and him as ringmaster.
Give it up pal, he's a con artist who will tell you anything to stay in command. A liar and a phony .
Come on, admit it you made a mistake standing by your man, as the song goes.
Or can't you really see the forest for the trees?

Citymouse, I agree with you 100%.

He should be "GONE". They should have an Oscar award for "primo acting in a political office". He is there for us now, and will do everthing he can to pull us through these difficult times. EH? Wait a minute, ...who put us in these diffucult times???

Who was the person "in charge", that should be held accountable to the actions, that brought about the severe penalties we the taxpayers now have to endure?

Who was "responsible" for hiring $81,000 chauffers? (who was carrying a gun illegally - does that sound like a representative of the people, or a Soprano theme. Hearsay, you say? I say - up yours. )

Who was "responsible" for letting the County barn scandle occure?

Who was "responsible" for letting the medicaid situation just continue to run unchecked, uncontested, unchallenged, when it was a "known" fact that, we could in "no way, no shape, or form" handle that ungodly financial burden? Hell, was the first thing I did when I lost my job, go out and buy a Mercedes Benz SLR ? No. I had to cut my expenses, cut my spending, cut my food, cut my heat. What does this man do? He goes out and buys a new batch of "signature series" SUV's for all the "highest paid" employees of the county. Now if these vehicles were "so sorely needed", why did he "not even" try to purchase a more fuel efficient, less expensive, vehicle? That simple little acquisition, of top of the line "signature series", gas guzzeling, SUV's, says a "whole lot" to me. It "totally reeks" with a simply "f*** it" attitude.

Now, as citymouse says, this man is going to "lead us out of this hell hole" of a mess, and lead us on the "crusades".

In other words, he is going to protect "us" from "guys like himself" . Ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, lol, I am rolling on the floor ! (and that ain't easy - my floors are very cold).

Why don't we just release Charles Manson, and put him in charge of the homicide bereau? Or put John Wayne Gacy in charge of social services? Or David Berkowitz in charge of gun control?

Until we remove the precept that politicians are virtual "untouchables", above the law, protected by charters, unions, etc., we are "doomed" to the side shows, missdirection, and nothing but pure misery.

    Giambra Crony Profits
    http://www.buffalobeast.com/47/briefs.html

Michael Muscarella, who resigned his $69,000 a year county job in 2002 after an internal investigation into sexual harassment charges, has been reinstated in his former position as a city building inspector, a $42,000 a year job he left in 1999 to work for his buddy Joel Giambra. Only in Buffalo can a connected insider quit his city job for a county job, leaving the position vacant for almost five years, and call it a "leave of absence." Muscarella is a jerk who flits from one taxpayer job to another, garnering suspensions and censure but never getting fired, because he was at Giambra’s wedding and faithfully contributes to both the County Executive and the Mayor. In 1997, as an employee of the Buffalo Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation, a federal investigator found that Muscarella took over three thousand dollars in "inappropriate inspection fees"—in checks made out to him and not the city, but he was never even charged with a crime. What a model government employee: he lies, he steals and he sexually harasses women, yet all Giambra or Masiello care about is getting that 1% (of his taxpayer salary) campaign contribution. Maybe if Muscarella grabs Michelle Giambra’s ass, we’ll be rid of this scumbag, unless Joel is one of those guys who likes hiding in the closet and watching while he wait for the Cialis to kick in.

Its all perfectly normal for a flip-floping democrat w the letter (R). He can flip-flop all he wants, but he still won't be getting reelected.

As a city resident, I want

ZERO county sales tax to go to the city.

The city needs to figure out how to live within its means.

Meaning a population that is 40% of its "glory days".

    It needs tough love.

Pay your own way or go into insolvency.

    Not merger.

The city parasites feeding at the public trough have noticed the trough is almost empty.

So they're moving to the county trough.

You know out and starting cutting back on the slop this week.

Keep it up. You'll save both the county and the city.

    Where is George Holt?

My question yesterday, today and tomorrow.

How long can George "tee off" Holt hide from the media?

Did he take campaign contributions from CBC?

His finally-released financial report says yes.

Why did he lie about it?

Did they run a fund-raiser for him on his golf vacation?

Did they pay for his golf vacation?

    Enquiring minds want to know.

    More ammo

If both Holt and Giambra are rendered irrelevant by their mis-steps, who's in charge?

    Lynn Marinelli?

    Now there's a scary thought.

    I was unclear; I apologize.

No special allocation to the City. Same sharing as the rest of the municipalities.
