In today's Buffalo News more info regarding the hiring and layoff-

Fudoli said Democrats and union leaders objected to losing a union position in town government and asked Assessor David C. Marrano to create a full-time job in his office where Nowak, or another union employee, could land.

Marrano and Abraham confirmed that proposal was discussed, but Marrano said he didn’t need another full-time worker in his office. Instead, he sought a seasonal, part-time worker to fill in when needed. The Town Board approved that last month, though Councilwoman Donna G. Stempniak voted “no.”

“I felt, my staff, we had enough people to get the job done,” Marrano told The News.
The democrats tried to CREATE an unnecessary position
While a resolution named Terranova as the employee who would lose a job, officials speculated she wouldn’t be laid off because of her political ties.

In fact, Poloncarz did make calls on her behalf, according to two Lancaster officials who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Poloncarz spokesman Peter Anderson said the county executive declined to comment.

“This is politics at its best,” one of the town officials said.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? Poloncarz stepped into town politics and pulled strings to keep a union employee because of "her"( Terrenova) polical ties is not only a conflict of interest but JMO inappropriate!

He has nice hair, but he isn't exactly quick on his feet! Saying nothing is better than saying something stupid.

you all need to come back into the real world from whatever online fantasy game you are playing.

Whether it's a blood relationship, a political relationship, or just a social relationship, people are going to go to bat for those they have relationships with.

There is nothing illegal about a county executive calling a local fellow party member to help a friend, or relative, or fellow party member.

Nogods, and there goes our taxes again. Has anyone watched the news, Greece and the uprise because they want to bail out the banks again and the taxpayers are responsible to foot the bill. This will happen here in our country if we continue to host redundancy of services for example, he( Poloncarz) has pulled stings to keep a union position. How many Deputy Town Clerks does each town need? YOu have a Town Clerk, 1st Deputy Town Clerk, and a 2nd Deputy Town Clerk. Put all three salaries together and you have close to $200,000 for just one municipality!

Personally, an Erie County Executive should not have pulled strings like that. Of course this is JMO and since we still live in a free society, I will continue to voice it.
