Bass Pro Project Details: While we all have heard about the announcement of Bass Pro coming to Buffalo, nothing regarding this project has been filed with the Common Council. According to media reports, $66 million in tax dollars will be provided to Bass Pro with $14 million coming from the county and city. The Council adopted a resolution sponsored by Councilmember Antoine M. Thompson requesting details from the Mayor as to how the city portion of this project is expected to be financed and how city owned property will be addressed.

    silver bullet

The Citykeeps chasing after that one big, magic development which is going to bring prosperity to our town.

Bass Pro, Adelphia, tomato farms and others I have forgetton.

Meanwhile, wide swaths of the City are abandoned and would benefit from a bulldozer.

What do we have to show for $500,000,000 in federal funds spent here over the past thirty years?

What economic boom do we have to show for another $500,000,000 spent on building the subway?

So why should we look to the public sector at any level to improve things here. They should keep shrinking and get out of the way.

biker, I think that is one reason why the Buffalo Common Council is requesting more details from the Mayor about the Bass Pro project (for example) and the City's cost thereof; the Common Council is not just jumping in on the project blind-folded as it seems the County Executive has.

We have nothing to show for the money but the developers and connected people do. Money in thier pockets while they empty ours.
