Shooting in Amherst, near TJ Maxx Plaza

    http://www.buffalonews.com/home/story/470776.html

"Amherst police were continuing an intensive search for a teenage gunman who shot a man at least twice, and possibly as many as four times, outside an apartment building at about 8:45 a.m. today adjacent to the T.J. Maxx Plaza at Niagara Falls Boulevard and Sheridan Drive.

The shooter was described as a youth about 19 years old. Witnesses said the weapon sounded more like a shotgun than a handgun.

"As far as I know, the wounds are not life threatening," said Amherst Assistant Police Chief Timothy M. Green. The wounded man, whose name was not released, is receiving treatment at Erie County Medical Center."

The Delta Rd apartments used to be a nice, with housing geared toward empty-nesters, the elderly, and middle-class single parents.
Please don't tell me they're admitting Section 8.

I thought it was the practice of section 8 to move folks on that program out of blighted areas? It's quite possible that which you speak of is occurring.

Amherst is so over-policed it is hard to believe any crime happens there whatsoever.

Is that area considered the "ghetto" these days?

    Not yet.

As of right now, Amherst has two "ghetto's".

Allenhurst Projects & Looney Acres (aka: Creekwoods).

You bet, but the Transit/Wherle area's starting to see more action!

    That's not Amherst. It's Clarence/Lancaster
