Not true. GSL are in place to protect anyone who tries to help. Doing CPR incorrectly on someone isn't going to kill them any faster.

A nurse is a different situation. I'm not talking about someone who's JOB it is to try to save or protect someone. I'm talking about coming across someone on the street that is in trouble, and assisting them. The GSL were created to protect someone who TRIED to help, despite the outcome.
Besides that, if a nurse who is off duty comes across that situation, the nurse is also protected.

Not true according to red cross training. When I was trained by American Red Cross they stressed that point as a instructor!!!! That is what was taught to me!!!!!! I cant speak about any other certification though.

All though I agree with the concept that anyone that steps in and tryes to help is a good thing just quoting the training.

As a registered nurse while on the job I can be sued and am not protected under the GSL. However, when I am off duty, I am protected under the GSL.

When you take the course you are also trained in helping a choking victim. This happens quite a bit if you talk to the teachers.

I was informed that they are all offered the chance to take the course for free ( in my district) and the district will provide a substitute during the 1/2 day that the teacher is out of the school. but, it's an individuals choice.

Some individuals do not feel confident in administering cpr was what I was told.

I can understand why some people would not feel confident with administering CPR. For me, I think it would be an automatic response to help if I saw someone in trouble. I have in the past and the thought about being sued wasn't a consideration at the time. Everything turned out okay in this instance.
