The AIDA approved a $113,750. sales tax break for Superior Technical Resources by a 4-1 vote. The person who cast the dissenting vote Stuart Shapiro said, " It's just another company that doesn't want to pay sales tax."
The Business First article also stated that this was the 4th deal STR had with the AIDA.
Is the AIDA going give tax breaks to every business in Amherst? Since this business has had 4 breaks, it's not a level playing field for the competition.
The AIDA's legal counsel said denying the incentives could potentially leave the agency open for legal action.
“The law’s in place and the policy is in place,” he said. “If we act in an arbitrary and capricious way, we could be sued. What would be our basis for saying no?”
How about 3 strikes and your out? The article stated that they hired 50 people in the last year but nothing was stated about creating additional jobs with the tax incentive.
The AIDA's lawyer saying they can't say NO, sounds like the businesses in Amherst have the AIDA and the residential taxpayers by the short hairs.
They also received a $1.07 million inducement package in 2005.

OH and where are all the rightwingers now as we have to give more corporate wellfare
So did they hit their hiring goals? You mentioned they hired 50 people this year.. I don't like spot incentives either way and would rather see them all go away.
