Those are going to be cosmos. I normally grow stuff you can eat. My woman wants cosmos so I started some up. They attract butterflies....

    Check this difference out.

top tomatoes are in 100% burpee's seed starting mix....

bottom tomatoes are in 50/50% soil and burpess's seed starting mix

    Seedlings

The few tomatoes upper left are in rapid rooters... they are in between size wise..

    Rapid rooters

Basically soil-less. Just transplant the entire piece.

    Rapid rooters

Seems the 50/50 works the best....

I think a good quality soil is the way to go for your basic seedlings..

You can clearly see the difference between the seedlings..

    Seedlings

The seedlings in the soil are very healthy

The seedlings in the rapid rooters are not bad but soil is less expensive. Maybe if you are going to grow hydroponically the rapid rooters might be the way to go. I never had an issue rinsing the soil off of seedlings before putting them into a hydroponic system.

Here is another example of burpee seed starting mix versus soil

Cosmos. No comparison at all. If I can find it there was an article in the Buffalo News about plants to attract birds... Cosmos were mentioned.

The tomatoes have to be potted up...

    The rapid rooters

    Tomato seedling

    Tomato root system

    Soil....

    Tomato

    Root ball

For basic veggies soil is the way to go. These seeds were all started at the same time.

    Hey Res;

Tifft Nature Preserve had sapling pines they were giving away:

These are in buckets until we get through the frost of the next few nights....

Then we have the blackberry vine, grape vine, strawberries, and a few planters of annuals started:

And yet more annuals, saplings and a house plant or two....

We're not ready for the nice weather......

Thanks to the folks at Buffalo Reuse, we took an old broken chandelier and made this....the plants will grow and cascade down - I can't wait to see what it will look like.

    I'm not thrilled with Burpee..

Why can't this be produced in the USA?

why can't this be made in the USA?

There really isn't a lot of cost here.

    what came in the box
