Town Budget Hearing

The Cheektowaga Town Board will have a public hearing on the budget October 28 at 6 pm. You can get copy of the proposed budget from the Town Clerk's office.

Did anyone go to the budget hearing? I did. The sheets they handed out were impossible to understand. At least there was a power point presentation explaining where the money comes from and where the money goes. The largest increases were for health care and fuel. There are no increases in overtime dollars. Personally I think they should cut some of the overtime and restructure work schedules.

Two council members were noticeably silent during the public comment period.

It was very interesting and some good comments were made by the public.

I wonder at the meeting will the councilmen and the supervisor say they will cut their pay by 10 percent, pay into their health care, and cut there benifits.
They are only partime employees and have better bennys than the work force. They also are in the state pension system and the taxpayers are paying for that too. I think they could save some money in the budget if they take some cuts.
