Let me get this straight. For as long as I can remember, politicians have been over-taxing, over-spending and over-regulating. Because of this, we are on the verge of total financial collapse. And the solution? A control board made up of politicians - some of the very same people responsible for this mess. There is an inherent conflict of interest with local politicians.
If we expect a control board to help solve our fiscal problems, then it must be composed of people with no ties to this community. It should be made up of individuals with proven track records - people from Cleveland, Baltimore and Atlanta who have revitalized those communities.
This control board should also be given considerable influence in Albany. After all, as poor as our local leadership has been for the last 20 years, most of our problems result from the absurdities hatched by the state.
