Nope. It still is. I can understand your disappointment and totally acknowledge it's roots. But that doesn't negate the fact the Constitution is still the defining and reigning law of the land.

Also, and not directly related to FMD's post, I'd like to add that "representation" as defined in our said Constitutional Republic does not infer actual direct representation, wherein the elected representative is strictly beholden to the immediate wishes of his/her constituents. Even in cases like this, where the opposition is overwhelming. The only arena where the people get "direct representation" in the legislative process is in the ballot initiative - which is not available in a federal election, nor in most state elections.

The difference being. . . Trolls are annoying and destructive to a conversation. You sir, are not a troll.

    (In my opinion.)

Those that participate on SUWNY and other sites like it are not the norm though we wish we were.

It is a matter of apathy and lack of participation that has lead to the government we have today.
This is why they went ahead with the bailout.

Still I don't see anyone marching on Washington demanding redress.

People are not that upset with the bailout as they pretend.

Actually the We the people organization did march on Washington demanding redress of grievance. After they could not get any redress they took the gubment to court to attempt to force them to respond and the Supreme Court denied to hear the case which would have been the first case on that part of the 1st amendment.

All of this discussion is starting to worry me.

It means, to me, that we still aren't at the bottom of the barrel. When that happens, people start to do something about it, and they don't have the time to sit and whine. Yes, the same as the Great Depression.

There have already been some suicides because of this financial collapse, but I wouldn't recommend going that way, if for no other reason than you'd never eat another steak, hear beautiful music, or see a morning pasture with the sunlight glistening off the dew.

So stop putting everything in a slot, and start to see how creative and determined you all are.

    Unhappy

Politicians listen to what the people want? It used to be if you sent them a letter in the mail, they would respond back. Even if it was a form letter at least they did respond to your letter. Now days with e mail all they have to do is hit the delete button on their in box. Never do or did get a response back when I would e mail one of them.
