Local Farmers Step Up to Support Olmsted Parks
    --Buffalo, New York

Farmers from all over Western New York are lending their support to Buffalo ’s Olmsted Parks Conservancy. On October 5, 2008 , Feed Your Soul will present Dinner Afield: Hoyt Lake , a very unique event designed to honor the bounty of New York . A portion of the proceeds will benefit Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
Dinner Afield: Hoyt Lake takes place along the curve of Hoyt Lake in front of the Marcy Casino in Delaware Park , one of Buffalo ’s most historically significant locations. The long table draped in white linen will sit just steps from the water, festooned with candles, china and autumnal décor. Guests are encouraged to dress casually as they enjoy a fine multi-course meal made almost entirely of local foods. Roughly a quarter of the evening’s diners will be the farmers, cheesemakers, breadmakers and vintners responsible for Buffalo ’s harvest bounty.
It is rare that one is able to enjoy a sumptuous meal in the company of the skilled and dedicated people that produced it. The proposed menu for the evening notes the participating farms, winemakers and artisan food producers (subject to change without notice based on availability)

    Dinner Afield: HoyLake Menu
Passed Hors d’oeuvres of Shaved Sirloin, Hot Italian Farm Cheese on Flatbread
(Raisin Acres, Lapp Dairy Farm, Artful Table)

Per person? Does the money basically go to park conservation?

I knew it was expensive when there was no price mentioned in the announcement. I went to their web site. I couldn't even find out the price until I clicked on "order tickets"
It's a lot of money that the average Joe doesn't have.

Handmade creme fraiche? Sounds like something an intern would do

All kidding aside; I hope the Olmstead Conservancy raises a lot of money at this event. It is a very worthwhile event. I, for one, am grateful to our former City Planners who commissioned Frederick Law Olmstead to design our municipal park system. I hope someday the park system returns to his original design.

I was just wondering, when did Hoyt Lake become Hoyt Lake and why?

For the yummiest creme fraiche, each step in the handmade process requires undivided attention to producing and maintaining high viscosity ...the resulting creme de la creme will always have a bacterial culture w/a pH around 4.5 prodcing a creme w/a slightly sour taste. Simply yummy!
