    Business Owners, Check in!

Just trying to get an idea of how many people on this site, own or have stake in a personal business. How long have you been around? What do you do? Where are you located? Being in WNY (assuming you are) what were your biggest obstacles to overcome?

This post will most likely be ammended, but I'm more or less doing it for a feeler/just out of curiosity kind of thing as of now.

I expected a bigger response than this.. It blows my mind that a site with so much networking capability is unused by those who I feel could/would benefit from it.

    Anybody else? ?

Those who did respond, what do you like about your job? dislike?
    Pm sent btw.

Management consulting? hmmm where and what exactly do you do? I always wondered how a private consultant was sought after or approached other companies....

Electrical Construction and Services since '99.
    Residential remodeling.

Live in Wyoming County, work independently all over WNY and open to across NYS.

Biggest obstacles are finding customers who are willing to educate themselves of cutting edge technology and invest in a more energy efficient and independent type lifestyle that will help set a trend and start a transition for a better future.

For example, Wind energy is a great idea, but allowing it to be controlled by a large corrupt "Authority" with a typical bureaucracy will do nothing to improve what is really humanly important.

With that said, I also believe that the younger generation does have a better understanding of what is best for their own future and they will be willing to invest in it. Time will tell.

I should start another thread but you know what I find insulting?

When elected officials who never owned a business in their entire life tell us they know what is good for business and waste our money.

Working full time now but still run my grant writing business part-time. V/successful for four years, going on five now. Work out of the house and take on projects I can truly believe in. Otherwise, no passion in the grant.

I've had a plant nursery, but have had to restructure due to the energy crisis. Pots, flats, tags, poly, anything that is produced with oil has trippled in prices over the last two years. Then the heating for the greenhouse........well I just can't do it regularily anymore. I will stil be doing this business, but on a much smaller scale and retail only.....no more wholesale.

I also own an alpaca farm which is self sufficient.

I also do accounting on the side with what I only want as clients. I am happy with the clients I have and would not want anymore. This povides me time to take care of the agriculture businesses I have as well as provides me the income which I can depend on.

    Plant Nursery...seasonal
Alpaca Farm....I love the animals, and I wouldn't give it up for anything.
    Accounting......Dependable income.

I quit the corporate world back in 98 and wouldn't change a thing!
