Thumbs down Town Supervisor's Assistant Gets Raise!

Does anyone know why the Cheektowaga Board is giving the Supervisor's Assistant a raise? Seems like $19,000 is a lot of money for a position that's really not necessary. The supervisor has 6 other board members helping with town assignments plus a secretary. Why does she need an assistant?

There used to be 2 full time ones with benefits and everything. 19,000 is a heck of a lot cheaper than that.

I think it was a $19,000 raise, not a $19,000 salary. Thats quite a big difference.

What is the base salary and how in the world can one justify a
$19,000 raise to an assistant to a town supervisor? Is the position even necessary?

Oh please.... I understood it to be a salary of $19,000 not a raise.

There are still 2 full time secretaries if that is what you mean. It sounds like this assistant position is in addition to the 2 full time secretaries at $39,000 a piece plus benefits.

    Just so we're clear...Is it a $19k raise, or a $19K salary?

The agenda states that it's a $19,056 salary not raise.

So we are adding a new job that will raise the town salaries $19,056 plus taxes and benefits? [sarcasm] I am sure this assistant is not related to anyone.[end sarcasm]

any bene's attached to that? How many hours will be required of them? I'm wondering what the hourly rate it for the assistant. Can we verify on their punch cards how many hours they have in?

There was no further information in their agenda packet. Doesn't say whether it's part time or full time, the name of the individual or the benefits attached. The Buffalo News article this morning on their board meeting doesn't mention anything about it.
