I am certain that this is something that they don't want the people of Cheektowaga to know about. In a time when municipalities should be downsizing and looking to save the taxpayer money, Cheektowaga, once again just adds more layers. They will simply raise my taxes OR my assessment to cover the new Head of Garbage and Supervisor Assistant. Business as usual. We really need to make changes in our Town. Elections are coming soon!

This is what is up in the supervisors office two part time secretaries at about 18.00 an hour one is a retired town worker and the other one worked for assemblyman Paul Tokaz in his office. That deal was made when Jim Junk (Mr. Cheektowaga but now lives in Elma) was the supervisor. There is only one full time secretary in that office.

So what are you saying, Cheeky? Are there 2 part time secretaries and 1 full time? Why would 1 supervisor need all that secretarial help?

Check out Kevin Gaughn's website wwwthecost.org. These figures are from 2006 and on top of all these salaries you need to add benefits. Also, add the new Sanitation Department salaries that are not available at this time. Can anyone answer why we need all these positions with these high salaries with a declining population in Cheektowaga? Why do we need 2 deputy town clerks? And it looks like the Assistant to the Supervisor was just added last year when Jimmy Jank was in office cause it's not on this list.

    Supervisor $81,960
Councilmember (6 of them) $19,587 ea
    Town Clerk $81,685
    Hwy Superintendent $75,911
    Justice $35,000
    Justice $35,000
    Totals: $427,078

    Supervisor Office
    Confidential Secretary $38,615
    Secretary to the Supervisor $35,015

    Council Office
    Administrative Assistant $40,691
    Council Office Steno Clerk $40,691

    Town Clerk Office
    1st Deputy Clerk $50,000
    2nd Deputy $50,000

    Hwy Superintendent Office
    Deputy $74,058

    Justice Office
    Clerk $35,537

    TOTAL: $1,052,946

It is just unbelievable that Cheektowaga would be adding positions and salaries at a time when all the other municipalities would be downsizing and looking for ways to cut budgets. This is an example of a governmental body that is out of touch with the communities around them and shows its arrogance in the fact that they believe that there will be no one to hold anyone there accountable. But, then again, maybe they know that no one will hold them accountable. Business as usual. Nero fiddled while Rome burnt.

Did you know that the Supervisor's salary was increased to $69,350 in 2001 and raised every year under Gabryszak to $77,023 in 2006? Also, the Supervisor gets a $5,000 stipend for being the Town's Budget Director or something to that effect.

Yep 2 pt and one fulltimer. When (waste of a vote) Gabby was the supervisor he had his own poop boy 1 full timer and another full timer in his office. Then when he ran for assemblyman he took his poop boy with him. Jimmy junk hired the two part timers (Friends and familiy move) when he was the supervisor and it stands as is right now.

I don't think those secretaries are part time with salaries of $38,615 and $35,015. Of course, these numbers are from 2006. Maybe an up-to-date salary list would have lower salaries for these secretaries, if indeed they are part time.

Haha, you would be surprised at what part-timers make in the public sector....
