Delaware Park will benefit from a new $250,000 state allocation announced July 10.
The funds, which come through the efforts of state Assemblyman Sam Hoyt, D-Buffalo, will be earmarked for improvements to the pathway around Hoyt Lake. Plans call for widening the pathway, landscape enhancements, benches and lighting.

If you really think about it, aren't we giving the state money (taxes) so that it can ultimately come back to the park, which probably would not have gotten bad had we had the money to fix it, but was sent to NYS in form of taxes?
I'm getting dizzy, it's like Back to the Future kinda politics. Shouldn't the purpose of wealth distribution actually got to those things (education, economic growth, etc) that assist the poor to move upward (financially, educationally, culturally, etc)? Rather than pork barrel projects which should be the responsibility of local governments.
The section east of the casino was very bad. The rest was maintainable. But I think they're using the money to widen it as well.Originally Posted by Save Us
could they use some of the money to make the water NOT smell like raw sewage?
I walk through there every day and MY GOD does it smell bad lately!
The truth from a troll is still the truth.

I rode my bike on it last weekend and it is in extremely bad shape. In many places it's even too dangerous to ride due to all the pot holes, water, and gravel. It's also very narrow - just wide enough for 2 people to walk side by side. Add bikes to the equation and it's a hazzard.
And forget about rollerblading...
What the hell kind of native plants filter raw sewage, plastic bags & used tampons?Originally Posted by 300miles
