Google adds Street View to Buffalo Maps

Google has turned on street view maps for the buffalo area as of June 10th. It appears, based on the look of my house, that this was late summer last year.

Go to http://maps.google.com and throw in your address and then click the streetview button. It may be off by a couple houses, but still impressive.

Stalkers will love it. Between that and the bird's eye view of LIVE LOCAL they'll be able to get a three dimensional view of their prey.

I haven't been able to update. I get the 1714 error-can't remove old files, no path. I can hardly wait!

It's really not off at all. You can navigate once you are in street view. You can move up and down the street and also "turn your head" by using the arrow buttons and actually pan a full 360degrees. Not distorted either.

I very, very distinctly remember someone going up and down the street several times taking pictures of the houses.

Google does it with a car with a spherical camera mounted on the top.

Yep my co-workers saw the car driving around town too.

Great for people who sell property. Thier clients can sort of check out the nieghborhood before even looking at a property.

I wondered how that was done, because in some pictures on st. louis ave (st maybe) it seemed like the people were looking at the camera.....

now it makes sense.... man that must take forever!

They drive and the camera just takes pictures. Unfortunately, due to complaints, they do not show the high resolution images. They also have software that blurs faces, license plates, and stitches all of the images together seamlessly. You are able to petition google to remove images. Like let's say that there's one of you leaving a strip club.....

I swear, honey, I don't know why the baby sitter's car was in the driveway at 12 noon. That is weird!

What's that ? My car is there too? She's parked behind me? Impossible.
