Geez, I hope not. So much to celebrate - the end of the Bush Era.Originally Posted by Enough

Either way, it will be nice to have a President who you can actually respect.

I respect McCain cause he was a POW. And, Obama, you know, cause he's black.
Would you respect McCain if he were not a POW? Would you respect Obama if he were white? Just wondering.Originally Posted by therising

Celebrate the changing of the puppets?
No matter who's elected every single major policy decision will be based on;
"How will it benefit big business and us (polticians)?
Under Bush's doltish distraction as "leader," hundreds-of-billions of dollars have been invested in bases in Iraq, the world's largest embassy, Blackwater camps and training centers mainly paid for by the government the list goes on:
All the money, planning, time and effort spent under Bush's "Presidency" isn't going to be "brushed aside" once the new puppet takes the oath of office.
Without venturing into "conspiracy territory," those who have directed the strategy of the Bush adminsitration haven't lost their taste for record profits.
Karl Rove's departure was for show; He's still a busy little nazi.
Bush's departure (if no martial law is declared) will be the simple switching of one cardboard cutout for another, regardless of what hopeful and grandiose campaign promises were made
Party it up on November 4! Go wild and let it all hang out! "Don't worry, be happy"
and optimistic for a future that will never come.
The role of President is now that of well-paid actor:
I would be shocked if George Bush made more than 10% of his own decisions.

I understand most people's thinking:
"ANYONE would be better than George W. Bush"
-Its the "school's out" mentality
-The "crisis is finally over and we all can take a deep breath" mentality
-FINALLY, we can see the "light at the end of the tunnel! Thank GOD he's gone!"
I'm not trying to be a "party pooper."
If throwing parties upon Bush's departure makes people happy;Exuberant and joyful, wonderful.
But
Unless radical business-government reforms are undertaken,
Unless the non-bid contracts stop,
Unless the Patriot Act and all other repressive laws are erased
Unless all guilty parties are brought to trial for crimes of treason and war crimes
Unless the U.S. torture policy becomes a bad nightmare;A thing of the past
Unless we fully exit Iraq-
Unless-
Things will not "get better" and there will be no reason(s) to celebrate the swearing in of a new President.
Unless-You just like to party and have a good time!
Guess that false hope beats no hope?
