    Harvest -Octoberfest-Brew

It is that time again, love the smell of the leaves as they are changing. My scent for harvest comfort food blends into the Octoberfest reality!!! Bring on the brew.

I love beer at this time of the year don't know why.

Sausage, scalloped potatoes, cornbread and a nice Guinness Beer. Which of course is my favorite.

    Sausage simmering w/
    peppers, onions, muschrooms
    garlic

scallops bake at 375 until crusty
(bx scallops for quick service is an option--I use it and it is good)

I buy my cornbread at Wegman's
    Crack open the Guinness

What other German Beer turn out to be your favorite and with what Octoberfest meal?

Shorts...ummmmm not really going to quibble but isn't Guinness an Irish beer? If I am correct it should be paired with corn beef. Oh hell, I don't care....have it with your sausage and enjoy!

This topic does bring up a question...are there any Octoberfests coming up locally? I remember years back they had them at Wiemer's Grove in Lancaster and Spring Garden in Marilla. Kind of in the mood for some beer and oompa bands.

There's a few short weeks in September, in our latitude, where the smells of the seasons changing are strong enough to put you on your back. It's not the smell of fall. No, it's the smell of high school football in the air. It's a distinctive smell that you will probably disregard if you weren't a sled-hitting, two-a-day, unwashed girdle-wearing meathead. There's nothing more awe-inspiring than the smell at 5 PM on a Friday, and the expectation of half of the county population jammed into a podunk stadium, wooden bleachers distressed from the weight, and tuba players questioning their halftime-show gumption (and prospects for the homecoming dance).

    Today smelled that way.

Never been a big fan of German beer, but, to Nancy Reagan's chagrin, I never said NO. Fall is where I get my IPA kick, and a whole hell of a lot of it. It wakes your senses up for old-school gridiron. I've never met a beer I didn't like, regardless of its nationality.
Most of all I like bulldozers and dirt

Boomer yeah you're right, but it's the only beer I love drinking. I love the dark beer. Now the only other beer I'll drink is I forget the name but the beer comes out of Penn. it smells like skunks actually, but so good (dang) wish I can recall the name, when my dad was alive (miss him alot) he would bring in this beer from Penn. man that beer was great, dark and smooth.

    beer in gravy
    beer in soup

    Anyone got a beer recipe?
