    Is a police officer allowed to talk on a cell phone while on patrol? I am asking because I saw one on Sheridan Drive talking on a cell. They also have those computers in their patrol car that they read while driving and if they can talk too.......

    From what I've been told, yes, a police officer is legally allowed to talk on a cell-phone while driving.

    Maybe someone can verify that?

    Cops are exempt

    The rule doesn't apply to Cops, they can talk and use the computer too. Take it up with the legislature, they made the law. Same for seatbelts, they are exempt too.

    AND IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, their vehicles are exempt from the annual vehicle NYS inspection requirement!

    No they are not. No car driven on NYS roads are exempt from NYS inspection.

    I lived in Ken/Ton for 6 years and the only time I was pulled over when I was going 50 in a 30. And he let me go.
