Leave to our Politicians Global Warming

    American Thinker: Ban the Bulb?

    April 03, 2007
    Ban the Bulb?
    By Luminus Maximus

In a few weeks the US Congress is likely to vote to phase out the standard incandescent light bulb within a decade. The frantic race to see who can best appease the global warming alarmists will claim another victim, the
friendly glow of the direct descendant of Thomas Edison's filament-based
    light bulb.

There's even more to this story: one more dirty little secret that the greens won't tell you about.

CFLs contain mercury. You didn't know that? Just a drop you say? How
about up to 5 milligrams per light bulb. If all 4 billion incandescent
sockets were filled with CFLs we'd have 20 billion milligrams of mercury
spread around every single US household. By the way, 20 billion milligrams
    is nearly 50,000 pounds.

That 50,000 pounds of mercury among 300 million people, if
indiscriminately thrown away, will eventually find its way to your
favorite landfill and public drinking water supply. Knock over a table
lamp and shatter a CFL in your house, and you have a toxic waste situation
on your hands right in the living room, bedroom or dining room.

On the other hand, at least half of all mercury emissions from coal fired
power plants currently is captured by scrubbers, and clean coal
technologies promise to eliminate 2/3rds of what remains. Not so for
CFLs-- which can't operate without mercury.

So there you have it. Congress will soon enact legislation to impose a tax
on poor people that will directly pass to Chinese companies, contribute to
lower literacy and less personal hygiene while making industrial policy
that will increase greenhouse gas emissions worldwide and spread a
hazardous heavy metal into the environment.

Ban the bulb is a no-brainer , only this time the empty-headed variety.

The above info. is condensed version of an article on the our government banning the incandescent light bulb.

Once again the control police (our Government) is taking our freedom of choice away from us. They are using the fear tactic of "Global Warming" to control our lives. How you can dispose of one of these new CFL lights. It will not be an easy matter because these bulbs contain MERCURY. Just to throw these bulbs away would bring the EPA down on your back.

Not to worry. The Goracle will soon start up a mercury pollution offset company. Send a few $$ his way and your guilt will dissappear.

"Daily Average Temperature: This year 33°F Last year 39°F"

-National Fuel bill I got yesterday

Of course, some all-knowing 'scientist' bought off by the UN will say this is a 'variation' and has no meaning.

Unlike, say, taking 5 data points and predicting the next 100.

And for this junk-science crap, we get to pony up tax money for ethanol subsidizes that raise our price of wheat. Remind me to kick Al Gore in the balls repeatedly the next time I see him.

    There is no global warming.
Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Global Warming - the scam of the century. No real proof that it actually exists. And yet it is shoved down our throats every day. To much is being based on this scam. Light bulbs, alternative fuels, DST changes, it's all BS. IMHO
If it weren't for the United States Military, there would be NO United States of America !

The problem is climate change, not global warming. But I'm sure you scientist have researched it diligently. . . Warming is but one part of the troubling trend.
One beautiful thing about having a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations is that every disaster is measured in terms of economic loss. It's sort of like getting your arm sheared off in a car accident and thinking, "Damn, now it'll take longer to fold the laundry" as blood spurts from your arteries. - The Rude Pundit

Note that the term Climate change has only recently been the replacement mantra for Global warming as indisputable evidence has begun to prove the Gorebots wrong. So what do we do now? Pump more CO2 into the atmosphere?

No it hasn't. It's been called climate change for years. "Indisputable evidence," now that's funny.

I was shocked when my Master Electrician (his license) told me about this. He further went on to describe that in very small print the instructions for disposal of these bulbs are very precise - and - if a bulb breaks it must be treated almost as a bio-haz for the area it breaks in.

Today it is Gobal Warming, 30 years ago its was Global Cooling.
    What one is it?
Oh, it is really Climate Change, so I ask which one is it?
Look througout history, the earth warms, and the earth cools.
    Last question:
Why should I believe someone who is not a climate scientest, especially when the weather men can't give us an accurate forcast for 5 days out, let alone 50 years!!

That you think the study of climate change and WeatherWatch4 are even remotely the same is kind of quaint, actually. Woefully misinformed, but quaint.

    It's not unrelated.

It's kinda funny how we call the weatherman an idiot when he predicts rain tomorrow and it's sunny.

It's also kinda funny how zillions are wasted in modeling/predicting climate change, by so-called 'scientists', and the model's predictions consistently fail.

Well maybe not pathetic. Maybe it's just quaint.
