    Enriching the Employee

Why do we use AFSCME for our community service provider?

No dis-respect but why are we forced to use this "Service Provider" in our community?

Frankly I do not like thier attitude. If you walked into a business and got the attitude thier rep. Mr Orlando has what would you do? Most americans would say shove it up your back end and not do business with them.

Or would you take that attitude and still do business? I would like your opinion.

    Organization

You know what made this "Service Provider" successful?

    Organization.

But you know what? As successful as they may be it doesn't mean we have to use their company to provide our services in our community.

Contract is over. If the government can break up a private business monopoly as they did with the phone companies years ago why is this allowed in NYS?

Contract is over. You sign a contract with Direct TV... Price goes up you switch to a new provider like Time Warner when the contract is over. You don't like the "attitude" of a company you can tell them to go pound salt and use someone else.

Maybe we want a new group of people from another "Service Provider" instead of the AFSCME Inc Company doing our services.

Which of our elected leaders picked the AFSCME service provider to provide services to Erie County?

We are the client, it's our money. It's our park. It's our community.

    State Directory

    Now here's an eye opener.

This is for New York State

Now look to the left of that page

    For this box

Look at the other states and how many have LESS employees from this Service Provider.

From a quick search it seems our NYS community has them providing a lot of our services compared to a LOT of the other 50 states.

    Kansas

    North Carolina

    Nevada

    South Carolina

Could there be a correlation between a booming economy and how many chapters this Service Provider has in thier state?

California has an incredible budget and look at thier chapter list

    California

    And Our Community New York

I wonder how many community minded government employees would leave thier current "Service Provider" and join a new Erie County Community Organization.

One that wouldn't put a strangle hold on the community they operate in.

One the would understand in order for our community to prosper and knock the socks off of other communites we would all have to pull togeather.

I found it most disturbing when Joan Bender, president of CSEA 815 was quoted as saying on TV tonight, "We don't do givebacks. We make exchanges."
I dont like this persons attitude. What about you?

Who negociates for our community? I certainly don't want the "legislator" negociating for us. Or any other politician who is bought and sold by any service provider.

    Find A new Provider

We the taxpayers should find a new provider. Let the chips fall where the may for those presently working for the old provider.

I agree. I have always been a proponent of pay as you go services.

"Hello, Thank you for calling Bob's Police Department"

    "um...I just got robbed."

"Ok, sorry to hear that, we do offer several services that I believe can help."

"OK, he's running down Elmwood, he is wear..."

"We will get to that in a moment, first of all I need to know what service you would like today. Single car service with a 5 block search is $39.95 for the first hour. Extra blocks are extra, but we are offering a BOGO at half price if the search lasts two or more hours."

"He just turned the corner onto Hertel"

"Could I offer you our Premium Service?" "It is especially convienent for those living is, oh, high occurrence neighborhoods"

    "nevermind, he is gone"

"I'm sorry to hear that, you have a better day now."

I just love how every public employee hides behind the police and fire when they try and justify their existence.

We are talking about a non-essential service that is not even being performed up to sub-par public standards.

It isn't hiding when it is what you do.

    This makes no sense.

If you want to talk about the Police, talk about the Police.

If you want to talk about the Parks Dept, talk about the Parks dept.

There are many layers to the public enterprise in WNY. Nobody is saying there should not be police service or parks. However, when the region is in decline fat has to be trimmed somewhere.

To try and justify the existence of a under performing parks department by drawing a picture of a private police department is a weak and pathetic argument.

Not when the underlying theme is unionism as a "service provider."

It is not underlying, it is front and center and out in the open.

People like you think working for the government is a right. That is a union mindset and a huge problem. People like you think you own your jobs. That is a union mindset and a huge problem.
