I can't believe how poor the turn-out was. I'm not a Dem, so I have an excuse (the people running as repubs around town are dems anyway), but does anyone know if this was par for the course in a Primary?

Anyway, to those of you who voted, regardless of who you cast your vote for, thanks.

I agree, about 1500 people made most of the decisions in West Seneca. Securing a Council seat for Hart. NY should have open primaries.

No, this was pretty sad and kind of scary. The last Supervisor's/ Council race in 2007 saw 5137 dems come out to vote. This year it was just over 3100. 2000 more people stayed home making up a total of roughly 12,000 dems that didn't feel it was important to vote.

We can all go back and forth and fight over our disagreements, but really nothing we say to eachother really matters when you have a town of people that aren't informed and don't care enough to vote. Really sad.

We both know we're not the norm as far as following the goings on, but you're right. The fact people pay so little attention is why/how the elected officials are able to run roughshod over their constituents (locally and nationally). The pay to play and back door deals (regardless of whose guy is doing it) go unchecked.
Look back to the shady things the Clark admin got away with and that the current pols are left to clean up. Keeping this nuetral, Cyprinski (sp) and Lazzara (sp) were crooked sob's. It's not possible that they could have gotten away with their shenanigans without political cover.

No absolutely not. But when it comes to things like that, they don't really care, but let's say they had approved a bond to fix the sewers or build twin ice rinks without voter approval that resulted in higher taxes. People would be out in droves to ride them out of down.
