I might be the only person/veteran who will not go after my $300.00 stimulus check from our government. I find this nothing more then another way for our government to grab veterans tax free money. I'll be damn, if I will file a tax return for the year 2007 to get $300.00 back in 2008. They (D.C.) must think I am that stupid lol

One beautiful thing about having a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations is that every disaster is measured in terms of economic loss. Stand on principle Riven! ... I'll gladly relieve you of that $300 check they send youOriginally Posted by Riven37

Well I already know if I get one I won't be BUYING anything with it. It's going to be used to take a chunk out of a loan I want to get rid of.

Riven's right in that the whole thing is BS. But, to not take the money based on principle??

I think a lot of people are going to use it to pay off debt, and not spend it on goods like they think they will. Though, that's not necessarily a bad thing either.
If the government decided instead to allocate that money to bail out the creditors, the creditors wouldn't turn around and reduce the amount people owe. Looking at it that way, I guess the approach isn't completely ridiculous. Two birds, one stone.
But don't take that as an endorsement of the stimulus checks. I'm just glad I'm getting some of my money back this year. The government's taken enough from my family.

Well, if they don't, I'm sure a lot of people here now do.Originally Posted by Riven37
