    Wind Turbines

What do you know about Wind Turbines?

    Are they worth the effort?
Does there have to be Wind Farms controlled by powerful "authorities"?
Can individuals own their own wind turbine?
Would you install a "Building Intregrated Turbine" in the design of your apartment complex, office building, or home?

Thats not true! There are many people who have been living off the grid for a very long time without sacrafice of typical conveniences. And there are designs that fit commercial buildings that are barely noticeable.

You're mistaken. There are few or no residential aplications utilizing turbines retrofitted into their homes.

The world is building wind farms, including the USA The USA currently has windfarms in every state producing 16,818.78 MW (MW = Megawatts, Mega means millions.

STOP being an engineer for a minute! Forget about "retrofit".

This conversation began in the Skyway Thread. Removal of the Skyway also opens the conversation to Lake Front Development. That means new construction. In new construction an owner should be able to install a wind turbine into the design of his building if he chooses.

In residential construction, a neighborhood could be wired in such a way that it doesnt need to be connected to the grid.

The idea is to eventually phaze out Energy Authorities. A transition wont take a few weeks or years, but maybe decades or even a century.
