The Nickel Creek Cafe is a very nice place. We will have the back room. There are plenty of tables and a fireplace. The food is excellent and prices are reasonable. So far it looks like we will have a good crowd.

I cannot make the gathering, but suggest that there be some discussion about how to help SUWNY fulfill its potential to inform & reform failed practices in a struggling region. Bflo's being the second poorest US city & having the second highest US rate of vacant abandoned housing are deeply serious.

However, the recent harsh tone by some heavy posters has driven away many serious posters, turning SUWNY into the "fun, games . . . & attack channel".

It has been painful to see highly informative "West Coast Perspective" abandon SU to regularly post well-researched articles on Buffalo Rising, followed by very informative discussion.

Trying to promotes similar discussion on SUWNY, I have been repeatedly urged, not so kindly, to "get lost". How can serious posters (who want to "make Buffalo better", the stated mission of SUWNY) be attracted back to SU?

Or is there consensus that "fun, games, & attack" is OK? And that I should indeed "get lost"?
