Cheektowaga Police to survey Cheektowaga schools directly via cameras

Cheektowaga Police to survey Cheektowaga schools directly via cameras

All four of the Cheektowaga school districts (Cleve-Hill, Maryvale, Cheektowaga-Sloan, and Cheektowaga Central) and Harkness Career & Technical Center will have surveillances cameras installed throughout their hallways to monitor the buildings.

The Cheektowaga Police Department will man the surveillance camera video stream for the safety of the school children, teachers, etc.

Go check this out..in the metroWNY

Do the other people running the other towns in erie county do this?

So how much does a person get to sit in front of the screens all day?

The estimated cost is $30,872 for the equipment and installation. Maintenance will be billed at $95 per hour for two workers.
What two workers? and how many hours of maintenance?

    Are these people new hires?

Peter Kreavy, Jr. was named to the position of general mechanic in the facilities department. Marc Meyers was appointed to the position of building maintenance worker in the sewer maintenance department. Peter Dudek was appointed as motor equipment operator in the sewer maintenance department.

Lisa Sprada was appointed sewer maintenance worker in the sewer maintenance department.

She joins the ranks of being a trailblazer for women as she is the first sewer maintenance worker.

Scot Fullington was appointed motor equipment operator in the sanitation department.

James Dalka was appointed laborer in the sanitation department.

The next Cheektowaga Town Board meeting is at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 at town hall, 3301 Broadway.

When I went to the PD open house a few years back, the dispatchers had monitors with some shots of the mall up. I think that they just have them watching them when they are not taking calls. Could be wrong, but thats my guess.

Maintenance will be billed at $95 per hour for two workers. This is nuts I'll sit there and watch cameras for nothing.

I found these 2 articles regarding Lancaster school's security cameras.
    Lancaster bee - July 7
    http://www.lancasterbee.com/news/201...y_cameras.html
    and Buffalo News- July 8

It states that that the district will set up a command center. Does not state whether it will be within the schools maybe monitored by the SRO's.

I think we are confusing the issue. Monitoring is watching the screen. Most likely will be performed by the dispatchers and part of their regular duties. Maintenance will be done when the system has a problem. Most likely done by the suppliers.

I don't think the idea having someone sitting at the station occasionally looking at video from the schools will make a difference or is worth the money spent. You won't stop anything from happening. It's gonna happen in front of a camera anyways so what is the point? Maybe save 72 hours of video so if something does happen you have some proof.

She can do what ever she wants. This is the United States of America.
I think she let her LPN license expire when she became an RN. She has been a Registered Nurse for almost as long as I have.
I usually don't connote blazing trails in sewers with nursing. My amazement was that most nurses leave the profession to teach, sell pharmaceuticals, or realty, not working in a sewer.
    Some how by posting

I was stirring a pot and I should mind my own business - per her post on a social network. Which is why I posted
    Apparently I hit a nerve ...
I think the nerve was the F&F (Friends and Family) nerve that seems to illicit an ill response when struck. This is a very bad nerve running through out Cheektowaga. It needs to be severed so the town can heal properly and grow into a thriving municipality again.

According to the Buffalo News Cheektowaga payroll database, she was a clerk/typist in the sewer department since May of 2010.

right. Also, there's more than one Sprada working for the town and more than one Sprada working in the sewer dept.
