Casino proponents around here aren't that interested in the factual evidence regarding the damage a casino will do to the surrounding area. They're just sick of having to drive more than 15 minutes to any one of the 5 gaming facilities (not counting Ft. Erie or the Racino at the Fairgrounds) already operating in the area. Ya know, bring blight surrounding the Seneca Niagara Casino closer to home, I guess.
One beautiful thing about having a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations is that every disaster is measured in terms of economic loss. It's sort of like getting your arm sheared off in a car accident and thinking, "Damn, now it'll take longer to fold the laundry" as blood spurts from your arteries. - The Rude Pundit

Isn't this what the people want?

we already have the blight. why fight every new build in the city. if its not tax payers money let them build it. and that goes for anyone who wants to spend their own money in the city

Except since the casino will not technically be in the city, the money spent there will not be money spent in the city. However the peripheral costs associated with the casino, will be borne by the taxpayers.
