Buffalo News Agenda What do they get???

Could there be a connection with the News' opinions on Buffalo Control Board and The State magically placing them into an Empire Zone that gave them money to install new printing presses and eliminate jobs?

Here is Sunday Jan. 13th opinion

Governor spoke clearly, now it’s time for unions and city to negotiate changes
    Updated: 01/13/08 8:59 AM

The last time Mayor Byron W. Brown lobbied Albany for an end to the city’s “hard” control board, Gov. Eliot L. Spitzer responded with a resounding, “no.” He has not changed that decision, and should not. Brown’s request remains premature.

Mayor Byron W. Brown's recent request in Albany for changes in the way the state-appointed Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority handles state aid for the city may be understandable, coming as it does from a mayor confident in his own ability to manage the city out of a financial crunch that was years in the making. But the control board's work is far from done, and its fiscal review authority offers more confidence to city residents that costs can be contained and

City surplus called biggest in history

    Published on November 14, 2006

Buffalo ended its fiscal year $56.1 million in the black, amassing what Comptroller Andrew A. SanFilippo called the largest surplus in city history.
A report that will be released today indicates the positive fund balance for the fiscal year ending June 30 would have been $95.6 million, but $39.5 million has been set aside for anticipated expenses.
SanFilippo added that the city still would be in the black even if its control board had not imposed a wage freeze 31 months ago or had not

As some city officials and union leaders ponder ways to spend a city surplus, the executive director of Buffalo's control board offered four words of advice Wednesday.
"Whoa, not so fast," said Dorothy A. Johnson.
She stressed the importance of building a cushion to protect the city against long-term fiscal uncertainties.
"This is not the time to open the spending floodgates unless we can count on future revenue increases or clear cost

    The News' response
    City still needs tight budgets

    Published on September 29, 2006

Buffalo's short-term borrowing has hit a six-year low. That's a good step, but with state handouts still a major factor in the city's budget there's a lot of work to do before Buffalo's finances are truly stable.
Buffalo's control board, working with city Comptroller Andrew A. SanFilippo, borrowed $60 million to meet day-to-day costs. That's a lot, but only half of the $120 million the city borrowed in 2003.

Brian Meyer - NEWS STAFF REPORTER
Buffalo ended its fiscal year $39.2 million in the black, the largest surplus in at least 25 years, according to a report prepared by outside auditors and scheduled for release today.
The surplus for the 2004-05 fiscal year would have been even bigger -- more than $77 million -- but nearly half of that is being set aside for anticipated costs.
City officials view the report prepared by the accounting firm Deloitte & Touche as encouraging news for a city that has been

    Progress, but keep wage freeze

    Published on January 18, 2006
Talk by union leaders and some Common Council members about lifting the city's wage freeze is premature and remains ill advised. Still, it is heartening to hear comments from top city officials that there could be reasonable progress in sight with union-management negotiations and compromise.
Finance Commissioner James B. Milroy suggested the city's submission to the state control board later this year of a revised four-year financial plan might include lifting the

Sorry, guys. The union bashers on this site will not let the facts get in the way of their opinion. Though the financial records show there hasn't been a budget deficit in over 14 years, lefty (dude), from his perch in California, says otherwise. He must have some inside information that he hasn't shared with anyone of significance.

Despite reality, many people still insist we have the politicians in our back pockets. This is the mentality we are dealing with.

The Buffalo News has a definite agenda.
Murray Light and Stan Lipsy are in tight with Wilmers and it's rumored that Wilmers made a lot of money for his pal News owner Warren Buffet with a little information on some investments through M&T. I can't be sure of that so I won't say that is true.
But Wilmers agenda is the News Agenda. The control board agenda is Wilmers agenda as well. In addition, the Buffalo New's view on organized labor is well known. Just look at how they treat their own unionized workers.
That sweet deal they got of receiving money for new presses in Grants and subsidies was part of it too. Tat money was supposed to create jobs. Instead they brought an out of town company to install presses that allowed them to lay pressmen off and reduce the work force. How they got away with it is amazing.
They will say anything to mislead the public so this control board (which is now bordering on illegal) stays hard .

By the way, what happened to biker? I miss the old coot.
