anita...this is the 3rd or 4th "site" thread...you're doing a terrific job...but really....one thread is enough...
This is almost as annoying as people who feed deer instead of shoot them.
Birth control is a good idea for herds that over-populate the suburbs, but why should the cops have all the fun with it. They will just bait them to shoot them with the birth control.
The birth control darts should be sold retail to the public so "we the people" can handle the problem efficiently and inexpensively ourselves in an instinctively natural human way. Hunting.
If we're lucky, maybe some of the left over darts would get used on some of the people in the suburbs who shouldnt be breeding either. Someone should stop feeding them too!
Anita,
You are one annoying person! I think you are a loon for feeding the deer in the first place. Your post belongs on the Cheektowaga threads, not Amherst, Williamsville & Clarence! We have enough problems of our own without listening to your banter!
Thats not banter. This is banter.Originally Posted by Gandalf
Gandalf, dont you understand that we humans need to domesticate the whitetail deer so when you are lonely in your conjested neighborhood you can just call them up to come over to your house and have tea and cookies, and you and your pet ape can teach them how to speak english since the spanish and muslim neighbors dont want to learn it.
lol
I fed the deer until it was illegal in NYS. I went threw about 1200 - 1600 pounds of deer chow each winter. Came from agway in 100 pound bags. It kept the deer away from all the neighbors plants and trees. The deer will have babies whether they eat the bushes or deer chow. I would rather have healthy deer instead of half starved unhealthy deer. THEY still have babies either way so they might as well be healthy.Originally Posted by Gandalf

If you don't like wildlife then stay in the city.

Just because I like to be controvercial... on a map, draw a line from Dunkirk to East Aurora to Alden to Akron, to Lockport to Youngstown....and theres your "city".If you don't like wildlife then stay in the city.

And it wouldnt be difficult to round up individual herds and drive them out of those areas if the authoritarians and bleeding heart do-gooders would work with a bunch of volunteer hunters. They could use choppers, ATV's, dirt bikes, horses etc, and put on "drives" for a couple months before the mid october hunting season and drive those heards out to the country where they can find plenty to eat and be properly harvested.
Oh but they'll never allow that because it might distrub traffic in front of the mall and Tim Hortons, right? Or the children might get scared seeing a man on a motorcycle with a shot gun strapped to his back. pfffft...what a bunch of loafers.

Personally, I suppport her.
In Austin, TX at the park at lake Travis, the deer will walk right up to you.
It's the coolest thing.
Now, I understand about people feeding deer with people's excuses for food, which I don't condone, but the only beef with the deer is the gardens they feed in, in people's back yards, which can usually be stopped by fencing them in with chicken fencing.
Feeding the deer in a park, which is designated their sanctuary shouldn't be such an issue.
Even less of an issue is picking on a woman in 60's for doing it.
