The govt does not run the USPS, however because of stupid laws, it is held liable for it's finances.
it's time for Amtrak and the USPS to swim on their own!
They can't even run a simple monopoly like the post office. Dems and Reps are both incompetent clowns.
THE NEXT BAILOUT? The Post Office Has Lost Nearly $20 Billion In Four Years

"Announcing a $2.2 billion first quarter loss for 2011, the U.S. Postal Service warned it would become insolvent unless Congress takes action."
PS-Cracks me up, these jackasses want to cut oil company loopholes? So they want to increase the oil companies cost of doing business and think they won't pass on the increase to us? They are not taxing oil companies more they are TAXING US MORE!!! Just like bank reform. They increased their cost and that's why banks are charging for checking accounts now. They have no clue.

Dumbest post ever! Thanks for the laugh PO!
I can't think of any! From medicaid/medicare to Amtrak and education. Government is a joke. Whenever they come up with a new idea they should start with, "well we suck at everything we do, how can we make it worth the private sector involved."

Is there a private company that will pick up & deliver your document anywhere in the US for 44¢?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No one is entitled to their own facts.
Well, what they'll do is tell the government they can do it for 22¢ then they'll get the contract and naturally there will be overruns. Then they'll ask the government for a tax break and do it for 44¢. Then since there will be mergers of delivery companies they'll deliver it for 66¢. Then they'll say that government shouldn't regulate their business. Then they'll be allowed to raise prices as they please making sure to pay their shareholders big dividends (especially major shareholders). Then when all is said and done, they'll shuffle around money from one major shareholder to another (since moderate income people are not worth marketing to, all the money is with just a few people anyhow). See? Win win.
.........pays the billions in losses? Oh, that's right, the Chinese pay it and then we pay them.
