Suits... plural. There was a cabinet full of them and we each grabbed a pair.

I guess I grew up in an underprivileged area. I can’t think of a single school that had its own pool. Wonder what the teachers did in those schools when they wanted a little peek. Guess we were lucky they didn’t make us get naked to play touch football in phys ed. Or they could’ve come up with some interesting modifications to flag football.

In 1926, the American Public Health Association published the first guide for swimming pool management. It recommended men swim nude and women wear suits "of the simplest type." Those guidelines remained until 1962. After that, it was a matter of custom. Andrew Saul, a nutritionist and author from Rochester, wrote of swimming nude at Charlotte High School as late as 1970.

Happy I didn't see a school pool until the late 80s. LOL.

Why cant people understand that people and times were different back then...morally and responsibly...not to say there were exceptions to this. Some Methods and practices were acceptable back then are now outrageous now...but ask anyone in their age late 60's 70 or 80 years old...there were many acceptable practices, which today would be put in jail for!
