    Air Traffic Controllers

I have no problem with Air Traffic Controllers working 4 hr shifts overnights. That 11pm to 7am shift should be split. I know people will cry and moan about paying them, but I am fine with that. Have a shift from 11-3 , and a 3-7. Pay them the same as though they worked the full 8. Make those coveted shifts/jobs. Those people need to be sharp and that would solve that problem. Thankfully a plane full of people hasn't been killed because of fatigue, yet. Make the change. And I'm not an air traffic controller, nor do I know any. I have worked midnights , not by choice, and don't like that shift in the least.

You'll never know, because what happens in my bedroom stays in my bedroom.

As for my political beliefs, I fall smack dab in the middle. Sometimes I lean right and other times I lean left.

work 4 and get paid for 8?
    screw that
plenty of people work overnight shifts without falling asleep on the job

make it clear that they'll be fired if caught sleeping and add cameras to make it easy to catch them

    Both

I work in the public as well as the private sector. I pay federal taxes too. I'm fine with paying those people for working that shift. As Ive stated, I'm speaking from experience. You ?

So you are or were an air traffic controller?

I'll agree there's an adjustment period, but there's plenty of people out there that are capable of remaining alert for 8 hours on overnight shifts.

I saw something on the news about this. The air traffic controllers get crazy shifts. Sometimes days, then nights, then 8 on, 8 off, and back to 8 on. Even when I was younger I don't think I could have done it.

That's something that needs to be addressed immediately. Four hour shifts for eight hours of compensation is not the solution.
