    Waste of taxpayer's money.

Has anyone ever noticed how many crossing guards are out there?

    Do we really need them?

Don't most drivers know enough to stop when they see kids crossing the street? I know, I do. Anyone who hits a kid crossing the street should be sent to jail. It's that simple.

Can we do a FOI to find out what our crossing guards make as opposed to the rest of the country?

95% of the time, these crossing guards are just standing around, doing nothing anyway. Then a kid comes and they throw there hands out there making us stop. Like we wouldn't stop, anyway.

Just another example of why taxes in WNY are so high.

    Your missing the point.

There are basic community items even I, as cheap as i am agree money should be spent on. But don't think i would be paying a crossing guard $40,000 a year either with full benefits.

Safety locks for guns are not one of them. You buy a gun, you pay for your own lock.

nope, not really. The amount of drivers who honor the rules of the road doesn't compare to the ones that don't.

The average amount of school days running a year is 180, which is also the average of days a crossing guard works. This isn't a 24/7 pay like police officers, garbage pick-ups, etc. There's no weekends, no over-time and when school is called off due to weather so is the crossing guard position.

In South Buffalo, the 9-month crossing guard jobs are security, not just for kids walking to and from school- but for the parents too.
