    Giza seeks fourth term

It was announced in yesterday's Lancaster Bee that Supervisor Robert Giza will be seeking his fourth term as town supervisor. Prior to becoming supervisor, he had also served 14 years as a councilman.

According to Giza his reasons for seeking another term:

"I enjoy the job. I really eat, drink and sleep this job."

Giza said that his experience and longevity have given him many connections and much knowledge about how the government works, making him the ideal candidate. "You couldn't get that kind of service from someone in here for a year or two." (Maybe like his Republican opponent, Jim Ward - whoever he is and was unavailable for comment).

"I've got some unfinished projects," Giza declared.

Unfinished projects? Like maybe the 1,000 homes in the development pipeline that are awaiting the traffic study results; a study that was initiated by Councilman Amatura. A traffic study that Giza believed was unwaranted because in his opinion there are no traffic issues in Lancaster.

Like completing water line improvements that were warranted and should have been done several years ago at a much lower cost; and that would have improved water pressure for residents who are still complaining of low water pressure and helped in firefighting.

Combating the drug problems that plague the town and school systems. Strange how town and school officials were all bent out of shape when the issue was made public, who claimed that we were unlike any other town having like issues but all of a sudden need to hire three police officers - two for the town and one SRO officer for the Middle School.

Building a facility that will house both the police and the courts. It is now likely that the Colecraft building on Walden Avenue wilil never be refurbished to permanently house both entities.

Justice Dwan had the right idea when he suggested the Colecraft building be minimally restored and temporarily used until a new facility could be built on Pavement Road. The white-elephant Colecraft building should never have been purchased until the town had conducted a study to determine refurbishing costs - cost that could be as high as $11 to $13 million.

Developers, realtors and special interest groups will support Giza's campaign as he is their best hope for protecting their best interests over that of the residents and the environment.

Hopefully some of the other board members (all Democrats) will find the gumption to speak out and vote no when the town's best interest are involved.

It is time for someone else to take the lead now. I personally do not think he has done a great job in for the town of Lancaster. He back door dealings are beyond in excusable.

Enjoying a job is good how about doing a good job......... To lame of a reason for re election consideration

Here lies one of the major problems. Scratch my back and I will kiss your ass.

You would get better service!!!! The new person would be cautious when making decisions and the decisions made would be for the betterment of the residents of Lancaster and not the betterment for Giza's pants.

    Oh boy here we go!

Taxes in Lancaster are sky rocketing and new developement needs to be curtailed not expanded.

New person could be more repsonsible with future developement plans.

Traffic studies coudl be mandated by the D.O.T..... Everyone in NYS has their hands in someone elses pants when it comes to projects.....

Let the new person finish up the project and possibly cut costs while doing it too.

I agree the water lines and even the gas lines it seems there is low pressure. My natural gas grill seems to not work as good during certain times....

well there is one thing going for Lancaster.... We got drugs! New name druggyville, NY 14086

Why bother even wasting my typing. The guy needs to have his ass thrown out of there. Where is Gary Howell???? Wasn't he critical of Lancaster..... Gary comes up and rants and raves then vanishes. Here is the time to make issues with why Giza should not be elected in again!

One would think it would not be hard to remove Giza from office. However, he has a large following made up of beholding public sector voters, special interest groups funding his campaign that he will be holding to and fortunate enough that the individuals who bitch about his governance are too apathetic to get off their lazy behinds to vote.

His largest asset is having the town's official newspaper, the Lancaster Bee, as his personal lap-dog! Better yet, like the three monkeys; see no evil, hear no evil and say (print) no evil.

The recent Bee article stated that Giza's opponent was unavailable for comment. Hopefully, they will get in contact with Jim Ward before their next publication and give him equal time so we can understand where he is coming from. Hopefully not another rant and rave, but something positive on making Lancaster a better town.
