    Question Interesting

One yes, one no, one satisfied with gas mileage. Who's gonna break the stalemate?

    Utter rubbish.

0.24% acetone added increases the useable energy in gasoline by 35%?

Interesting. For this to be factual, acetone would need to contain ~146X the energy of gasoline.

Wiki states that the bulk of a typical gasoline consists of hydrocarbons with between 5 and 12 carbon atoms per molecule. Acetone has 3 carbon atoms per molecule; the lessened amount of carbon indicates less 'burnable' energy than the bulk of gasoline. Roughly speaking, adding acetone would lead one to expect a minor loss in energy. Just like ethanol.

I should hope toluene and benzene are OK; they comprise up to 40% of the volume of gasoline.
