$2.4M settlement ends Amherst's flawed experiment to turn sewer waste into fertilizer

$2.4M settlement ends Amherst's flawed experiment to turn sewer waste into fertilizer

Amherst will pay $2.4 million to settle a lengthy billing dispute with the consultant hired to manage a flawed town program that tried to convert sewer sludge into market-ready fertilizer.

Micro-Link LLC had argued that the town owed the company hundreds of thousands of dollars, dating to 2006.

Town officials had refused to pay and, in fact, took Micro-Link to court after a state audit concluded the town had overpaid the company.

The litigation played out over the past 16 years, with both sides running up legal fees. After a jury decided in Micro-Link's favor in the summer, the company and town officials hashed out the deal.

Another $8 million knuckle enema to the taxpayers of Amherst brought to you by Fatso and the puppets on the town board. That’s just to buy the brownfield dump that he’s going to turn into still another dying community theatre. Add $30 million to clean up the pollution that he made magically disappear from the site and $20 million to develop the “theatre”. We'll have to name the theatre…”Theatre of the Absurd” suggests itself.

Just search “town buys Westwood” and you’ll find links. Fatso stuck the taxpayers with an $8 million debt for a brownfield that cost the sellers just $2.5 million. And Fatso assures us that his “plan” for the property will take decades!! In other words it’s a freaking pipe dream.
