    Councilmen raises

Do you really think the councilmen are in need of a 2% raise from $18,467 to $18,975?

Their work hours from the Lancaster site-
    http://www.erie.gov/lancaster/pdfs/R...019%202010.pdf

It's definitely a part time position, but LOOK at their current rates per hour.

Isn't that kind of a slap in the face to the Lancaster taxpayers for the councilmen to want more??

The salary increase is 2.75%. They did not take a wage increase last year. Whether they need or deserve the 2.75% wage increase is another matter.

If someone takes issue with a $507 salary increase for a part time public sector position in government, I would have to ask whether they take exception to the teachers union demanding more than the 3.34% step salary increase the teachers got this past year.

The contract expired over a year ago and taxpayers still have no idea what the union is asking for. Taxpayers were promised getting that information a year ago through the Fact Finding process. Are they seeking three year 5% salary increases as was in the last contract? What is being offered them? Who knows?

Thanks for correcting my faux pas, Lee.

The amount of money isn't my issue. It's the principle of people making between $37 and $68 per hour paid by the taxpayers during these financially difficult times shoudn't receive more.

My feelings are the same regarding the teachers.

I guess no one wants the taxpayers to learn of the facts from either side.

Just out of curiosity Gorja: Why wasn't that fat, miss piggy, Councilwoman Donna Stempniak included on your table of injustice?!?

Was this an oversight, or are you being sexist and/or subjective?

Please post another table with Council Member "Double Stuffed" Oreo, Pension Padding Stempniak, included in the analysis. After all, she is the true pillager of the taxpayers , with her slimey resignation than re-assumption of her current seat on the Board.

    Thank you.

Double dipping Donna wasn't included in my table because she wasn't included in the town's chart. Have no idea what her claimed work hours are.

I think the town's table only had to include those who the town still contributes to their pensions for their current positions.

Since DDD already receives a $67,044 pension, she can't have more pension monies contributed for her current town councilman position.

Apparently a $67,044 pension and $18,467 councilman salary is not enough for her.
