If it would have been Ruffino and not Leary proposing increasing stipends, the regular posters would have a broohaha about it.
It's okay for one side but not the other, as always.
Yea, the difference between the Leary proposal and Ruffino's past proposal(s) is that Ruffino requested the restoration of the Supervisor's stipend for his own "budget duties," even though he has a high-priced Budget Director that does the work, while Leary's request seemed to compensate actors other than himself, who actually do the work without assistance, eh?

Bear in mind, the Ruffino 2020 AND 2021 requests were not in response to significantly increased duties, but were longstanding responsibilities attendant to the Office of Supervisor.

You are 100% correct in saying Supervisor Ruffino voted to approve Leary’s Schedule of Salaries resolution. He declared his ‘yes’ vote came about with the LIDA stipend increase removals. Ruffino’s explanation for the removals were spot on and Leary agreed to return them to 2021 levels with the understanding the adjustments should be determined by the LIDA.

My 4-1 vote declaration was made based on hearsay. In listening to the recording Ruffino voted ‘yes’ to Leary’s resolution after hearing the LIDA stipend increases were removed from the resolution. What muddied the water was Ruffino following up with his own resolution which received no second. Ruffino admitted when proposing the resolution that it was basically the same but with a few minor tweaks of little fiscal importance.

Just like your initial post, this turned out to be ‘much ado about nothing.’ The money is in the budget to make the increases happen. Ruffino explained it would not be prudent to do so, and why, and why the LIDA should consider the increases. Leary agreed and withdrew his LIDA proposal.

You heard nothing because there was nothing to hear. But you made a point of trying to make it into something.

Gorga, stay tuned to all the goings-on within the “new” leadership team on the TOL board. They welcome your continued scrutiny. You will only help point out their attributes to the town citizenry. Make your claims, and then they will be answered in full, as Lee just did for you.

Mr. Ruffino's throat hold of the LIDA board is over now. The new board will indeed decide who sits at what position and who's pay will be raised. Mr. Leary was correct to concede to Ruffinos request. Ruffino is correct in that the LIDA board is an entity of its own, serving at the pleasure of the entire TOL board. That was the correct outcome, and I believe Mr. Leary will always take the high road and take the correct decision that coincides with the laws and standard operating procedures.

It's a new day in the TOL political leadership and future outcomes. The "old' days are gone now.

At every point there will be changes that make sense.

Your opinions are more than welcomed. You miss stating the facts are expected.

Good news for residents awaiting the livestreaming of Lancaster Board meetings. The equipment is being installed and should be operational by the next town board meeting.

Hopefully, the Planning and Zoning Board of Appeal’s will learn to use the visual-audio equipment and continue to record their meetings.

The provided LIDA meeting minutes are abbreviated and fail to meet Open Meeting Law guidelines of openness and transparency. As the LIDA uses the same Town Hall room to conduct its meetings (early in the day) it would be advantageous for the public to view them livestreamed and archived for later viewing.

Governor Hochul recently amended the Open Meetings Law requiring LIDA’s provide all agendas and supporting documents on their websites 24 hours prior to the meeting. The Lancaster LIDA could be proactive in taking it a step further by livestreaming their meetings as well.

The Conservative majority not only campaigned on transparency, but they now govern transparently.

This is a victory for the people of Lancaster Lee, and you should take pride in your intense personal efforts that achieved that victory.

    Thank you Mr. C.!!!

It was nice to hear that Leary and Dickman for once didn't hold the last name against the individual that was appointed as a lieutenant.

The livestream audio/video equipment was tested today and found to be good to go. It is set up to stream all town and LIDA meetings.

Kudos to Town Clerk Diane Terranova and Councilman Robert Leary for their time, effort, and research in bringing 21st century technology to Lancaster that enhances public access to meetings that provides for government openness, transparency. Miss going to meetings and watching body language.
