Buffalo Dream Weavers founder passed away. Michelle Johnson

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share that BDW founder, Michele Johnson, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Christmas day.

Her services will be held this Sunday, January 2 at Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave, Buffalo, NY 14209 between 9 & 11 AM. A private burial for immediate family only will take place at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetary.

Michele founded Buffalo Dream Weavers in 2009 shortly after her son had James passed. It began with one person - Michele. Then a few of her friends, then some of their friends, & now it is a community of over 2000 people. We've helped hundreds of people in need throughout the years, all because of her.

The family has asked that anyone who would like to show their love & support, please have white flowers delivered to Amigone for the service Sunday. They are looking forward to meeting all of you, but please allow them some time right now as they prepare to send their mother off in the fashion she deserves

There will also be an intimate gathering outside the Buffalo Central Terminal this Friday in her honor. If you would like to attend, please message us for details.

There are very few people in the world like Michele; with her heart, her strength, or her resilience. She will be greatly missed by her children, family, friends, & the Buffalo community.

Michele Johnson, East Side housing activist, fought to keep the slumlords out

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB — An East Side activist who was known for standing toe-to-toe with slumlords, as well as local politicians is being remembered.

Michele Johnson was a dedicated wife and mother of four, who loved Buffalo with a passion and despised those who would exploit this city to line their pockets. Some of the first Call 4 Action stories on home flipping — the fraudulent kind — and out of town slumlords, were inspired by Michele Johnson.

Buffalo city court needs a no non sense judge..TOO MUCH LENIENCY, and stalling...giving too much time to make repairs, fines are too low(and how much is currently owed to Housing Court by delinquent PROPERTY OWNERS, especially out of town owners? THAT MUST use Property Mgmt co.'s that are ineffective and just as IRRESPONSIBLE as the slumlords the represent! Start threatening to suspend or revoking property mgmt co.'s that represent these out of town owners ..and see how much changes...status quo is what we have had for years and look where it has gotten the housing stock in Buffalo
