The entire operation of the Lancaster DPW is under the complete control of Cansdale. The environment that exists falls on his shoulders. But Mr. Cansdale has an elected official who has direct oversight. That person is the Mayor. That mayor is LYNNE RUDA.

Just My Opinion:

After reviewing the Buffalo News article, I still have not drawn any final conclusions regarding the matter of the WNYMedia article and video.

While the Buffalo News story "Vulgar incident in Lancaster village break room becomes Town Board campaign issue" credibly brings the issue into the forefront of the public conversation, the article appears to be a somewhat underdeveloped work.

As I understand the Jay Tokasz work, it fails to address, among other issues, Dickman's prior intention for creating the video. It also appears to lack any direct comments from DPW Superintendent Cansdale and, more importantly, Mayor Ruda. Metaphorically, the DPW is Cansdale's ship, and Mayor Ruda is the CEO of its parent company.

Nevertheless, it is not the exclusive responsibility of the Buffalo News to bring finality to this issue. IMHO, Mayor Ruda needs to promptly, publicly, and authoritatively speak to this matter; a burden that goes with her exalted position.
