You want to give the government all these powers to run every aspect of our lives because a lefty is in office right now and Democrats control Congress. You think that GOVERNMENT is the answer to all of life's ills, and if you can just get more and more control, over the economy, over personal decisions, over health care, over schools, etc. you can make the county into what you think it should be by forcing people to comply with your values.

Yet you seem to fail to grasp (as many Republicans did under Bush) that the lefties will not be in power in perpetuity. In the future (perhaps the near future) the Republicans, and likely some people you vehemently disagree with, will be running the country and they will have ALL OF THOSE SAME POWERS!
Then you will whine and cry about gov't power being too much. Why does Sarah Palin have the power to do _________. WHAT ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION?!

I do not advocate violence. I just want to point out that once the Feds are given more power, it only takes an election for those powers to go to someone you REALLY do not like/agree with.
This is why I believe in gov't as the founders set it up: limited federal powers.

The Democratic party has changed a lot over the years. I remember JFK saying "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". Today Democrats are behaving just the opposite. They're all saying "What's the country gonna do for me?" and they're trying to pass legislation aimed at having the government provide everyone with everything.
