Heritage trail closed through September 19

My dog and I saw the temporarily closed sign by the entrance but the sign didn't indicate why it was closed.
So we took a chance and just walked the mile to Cemetery Rd and turned back.
Everyone that I saw at the entrance this morning when I first got there and when I left questioned the reason
    for the closing.
I checked the town website when I got home. Apparently there is an antlerless deer firearms season this week'
It would have been nice to just have Big game season on the sign.

Closed again for 6 weeks this time.
So, 7 weeks out of the year, it has to be closed because the hunters can't be trusted to hunt legally?
    That's ridiculous.
