Pegula seeks $1.1 billion from the public for new stadium.

Hahahah money bags is off his rocker. Pack up and move before taxpayers pay for your playground. You have the money you pay for it. What BS this is.

Pegula Sports and Entertainment, the team’s owners, have pitched a $1.5 billion proposal for a new stadium in Orchard Park and to help cover some renovation costs at KeyBank Center downtown. The public would provide an unprecedented 100%, according to multiple sources who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the high sensitivity of the early stage of negotiations.
The team has floated to state and county officials an initial ask that the public pay all the costs for what will be, as is the current stadium, a county-owned facility
The team has made no overt threats, sources say, to leave Buffalo if it doesn’t get the full funding request, but it has made clear to government negotiators that there are other cities elsewhere that desire an NFL franchise and would pay handsomely for it.

You can ask for anything. Doesn’t mean you’ll get it. Maybe….just maybe…it’s a negotiating position. The NFL also usually throws in on this stuff.

Let the people who profit from football pay for the stadium. Then for each SuperBowl the Bills will NYS can give them like 50,000,000 each time.

not surprised he's trying to get us to pay for it
also won't be surprised when the politicians give it to him

I agree this is a starting negotiating position but I don't think it is designed to get a stadium built in WNY. I mean the reaction to that has been pretty awful. Loyal Bills fans are vocal about how much they hate the Pegulas now and the Buffalo News is already running articles talking about how it won't be so bad, and maybe make things even better, if the Bills leave.

I think they asked for the entire thing to be paid for because they want to relocate the team. The NFL has some defined rules on what a team must do locally before they can ask to relocate. The Bills need to show they did everything they could to get a deal done but it's just not possible. If they would have started with a 75/25 or 60/40 split in hopes of a 50/50 outcome, the back and forth on that could drag out for years with there always being 'light at the end of the tunnel' for the region to fall back on. That light would technically prevent them from moving. On the flip side, if you salt the earth at the start there is no light. It only gets darker from here.

Buffalo is never going to get a Super Bowl even if it has the best dome stadium in the NFL. It does not qualify for many reasons but mostly because it doesn't have enough hotel rooms.

I do think Terry would be willing to pay 100% for a new stadium for the Bills. It just isn't going to be in Buffalo. He could pull a similar play to Stan Kroenke and build a stadium complex outside of San Antonio, TX. A mini 'Terryworld' in Texas. Unlike in Buffalo, a stadium in San Antonio would qualify for the Super Bowl rotation. It also could land college football games and other events that simply won't come to Buffalo regardless of where you put a stadium.

San Antonio has already said they want and expect a team. So if an NFL owner says they will relocate and build the stadium and all the city needs to do is provide the site and infrastructure...it's going to be the easiest deal to close. Not only would the revenue from the stadium explode compared to what he makes in Buffalo, the value of the franchise would as well. Again, just look at the trajectory of the LA Rams from when they left St. Louis. When Terry purchased the Bills, the Rams and Bills were worth about the same. Now, in LA, not so much.

Hey Leftie, haven’t heard from you in a bit. Hope all is well. The days of Buffalo as a major urban player are long past. The Bills have survived here only through the unique tv revenue sharing arrangement in the NFL. But for that they’d have been gone 40 years ago. The Sabres are a slow motion train wreck ever since they bought into the idiotic notion of deliberately losing. Turns out winning is not just a faucet you can turn on whenever you want to. Who knew?! Clearly not the Sabres. Maybe the Pegulas package them both up and head for San Antone. Beautiful city, not a toilet like downtown Buffalo.

Things are good. Hope the same for you. I don't think San Antonio could support a NFL and NHL team coming in at the same time. That said, Houston has been looking for a NHL team for years. It's the largest city in the US without a team and they had an AHL team not too long ago. No state income tax is a huge advantage for NHL teams and no doubt the Sabres could use all of the help they could get.

The Sabres lease expires in 2025 and the Bills lease expires in 2023. Not sure if there is an early out for them but honestly I think it's a very real possibility that Buffalo would be without a single major professional sports team by the end of the decade.

Money bags net worth $5.2 Billion. new stadium let's say with overruns 1.5 billion he has enough money to build his own rock pile. lease the property from the county and he keeps all the money and no charge to the taxpayers. or let them pack up and move to Austin no great loss. look at the area Austin one of the hottest cities to move to in the US. Population in this city 1.1 million average income 71 grand a year. The mayor was on the news and wants the bills and get a new stadium. This city is 250 thousand and the average income is 32 grand a year and taxes in this are are double, how about paying 250.00 for a ticket and a cup of beer for 17 bucks. Pack up and move and no money for money bags. We pay enough taxes here,

San Antonio has about 1.3 million people. But you’re right, Houston is the more likely landing spot for a hockey team. So move the Bills to San Antone in 2023 and the Sabes to Houston in 2025. Houston and San Antone aren’t that far apart. Problem is the Pegulas are tied into Penn State and don’t know if they’d move that far.

Oh there are more than enough people. I was speaking more on the effort to launch a new professional team in a city. 2 coming in at the same time would be difficult for almost every city sans the top 3 or 4 in the US. They currently live in Florida and fly everywhere by personal jet. Not sure anything is too far for them.

Money bags just uped it he wants 1.4 billion for Bill's new stadium. ECE putz Carz bills don't have a blank checkbook from state or erie county taxpayers. Mrs money bags have asked the state and county for $1.1 billion towards a new stadium she also said with the team paying nothing. Most are saying now no public money to fund a private stadium. Funds could be better used ( if the politicians don't steal it}than funding a privately owned stadium.
I would like to see the bills pack up and move or stay if pugula pays for it.
